Technologies in use at Progeny Systems
Architects and designers at Progeny Systems employ State of the Practice technologies to provide the optimal solutions to our customers' needs.
Advanced Technology Selection
Effective technology selection begins with our deep background knowledge and experience, combined with a thorough understanding of underlying principles and practices of computer science. We study techniques and technologies used successfully in existing new products. We then apply our knowledge of advanced research and market trends to identify the most probable future direction of the field.
Finally, we weigh the risks and determine when is the best time to move toward this future direction. Ideally, Progeny Systems maintains its position as appliers of the best new technologies—without biting on every new "state of the art" idea that comes along.
Internet Technologies
A lot of Progeny's business is application of Internet technologies to new solutions. Of course, those technologies march forward at a stunning rate, which gives us more and more to work with all the time. We work closely with some of the companies that drive innovations such as Voice-XML and wireless handheld computing. Progeny employees have extensive background in networks at every level from network architecture down to switch configuration and maintenance. This gives us the perspective to apply these great new technologies in a rational manner to meet customer needs—without requiring that the customer become experts themselves in this rapidly-evolving area of computer science.
COTS for Military Applications
While many have jumped onto the COTS-for-Mil bandwagon, few have tackled—or even acknowledged—the tough problems faced by the military as COTS are deployed to the forces. Progeny has performed key research and development into areas such as technology refresh, end-user maintenance, and logistical support. We proposed a number of the accepted methodologies that help the armed services adapt to the changes required by COTS products.
